For those not familiar with the Katamari series, the story basics involves a weird creature that pushes a ball around and rolls up various items with the main goal of growing as big as possible. Most levels are timed and require the player to roll up as many items as possible. This creates some fast paced action as you scramble to get as many items as possible.
The premise sounds a little odd, but it's addicting. I first played the original on my friend's PS2 and ended up buying a PS2 solely to play original and its sequel.
Katamari Forever is extremely similar to the original two games for the PS2. In fact, it features many of the same levels with just a couple of small twists (such as a small heart that you roll up and then sucks in surrounding objects). The game now keeps track of the items you roll up and you can see how many of each item in each category you have rolled up - such as people, food, sports items, etc. The lists are detailed and funny. I find myself obsessing over getting each and every item in the game.
Katamari Forever is a retread of the original two games. It doesn't actually contain many new levels. That being the case, I only recommend this game to people who have either never played the original games or absolutely adored the first games.
