Where To Buy Katamari Forever

For those not familiar with the Katamari series, the story basics involves a weird creature that pushes a ball around and rolls up various items with the main goal of growing as big as possible. Most levels are timed and require the player to roll up as many items as possible. This creates some fast paced action as you scramble to get as many items as possible.

The premise sounds a little odd, but it's addicting. I first played the original on my friend's PS2 and ended up buying a PS2 solely to play original and its sequel.

Katamari Forever is extremely similar to the original two games for the PS2. In fact, it features many of the same levels with just a couple of small twists (such as a small heart that you roll up and then sucks in surrounding objects). The game now keeps track of the items you roll up and you can see how many of each item in each category you have rolled up - such as people, food, sports items, etc. The lists are detailed and funny. I find myself obsessing over getting each and every item in the game.

Katamari Forever is a retread of the original two games. It doesn't actually contain many new levels. That being the case, I only recommend this game to people who have either never played the original games or absolutely adored the first games.

Shop For Universal Microphone Stand

This is an awesome microphone stand. It makes you feel like your on the stage singing the song in front of the crowds sometimes. Anyways the height adjustment works great and the stand itself stays pretty well put if you don't mess around with it too much. The clips are great for controllers. I want to trade my PS2 and XBOX controller set for wii ones so:

IF YOU HAVE ANY Wii clips you want to trade me for my xbox and ps2/ps3 clip just ask me. My email address is jslostwithout@yahoo.com. Thank you!Get more detail about Universal Microphone Stand.

Playstation 3 The Beatles: Rock Band - Software Only This instant

I loved this game. The tutorials are great, and the awards are fun to get. I love the trivia tidbits that come with each photo that you can unlock, and it makes it more interesting and fun to really get all of the extra video footage and photos. The game is not that long, and the downloadable content is limited. It would be nice to see some more of their work put up as downloadable content, including songs like "Hey Jude". Also, the harmonies capabilities is groundbreaking, unfortunately you need to buy another microphone (or two) to use this feature so I have not used it yet. I would definitely recommend this game to anyone!Get more detail about Playstation 3 The Beatles: Rock Band - Software Only.

Logitech PlayStation 3 Driving Force GT Racing Wheel Immediately

I have tried three differnt steering wheels for my PS3, one by Intec (it worked ok with some games), a (madcatz do not recomend) and then this one went one sale for $82 and change. If you want to play your driving games with a wheel and can not afford $200.00+ you should buy this one. I have spent thousands of dollars on amazon, and this is the first time I have felt like I really wanted to let other people know about a product. I am that impressed. The main thing about this product is it does what it says it will plus it works with all 8 racing games I have and WORKS SIMPLEY, and very WELL. It just comes with a quick start pamplet and computer software, everything was easy to install, there are wires but in my opinion they are not a problem. All the wires are a good length. I recieved it on 4-21,so I can not say about durability, although there are no junk parts, it is all quality material and sturdy. After I loaded the software to my notebook and disconnected the USB cable I thought OH NO, when I tried to open the file the window opened but only with the tool bar (unless you connect the wheel via usb) but do not panic when I hooked the USB to my PS3 and loaded a game (Dirt 2)all I had to do was go to conrols in the game menu and choose a configuration the wheel started moving on its own, about 15 seconds. Then I went to a race mode and everything worked PERFECTLY. This was the same process I repeated on all my other driving games, same result perfect controls. The game I had the hardest time playing before this purchase, Nascar 09, finally had a wheel that worked, and was finally fun. I was thinking of getting rid of the game because it was no fun with the Dual Shock controller, and no other wheel worked all the functions. This one does! and very simply. One game Grid, I tried to select the wrong confiq. but the wheel would not let me, it held me there (in that menue) until I was one the right confiq......WHAT A SMART WHEEL. Still only my opinion this PS3 steering wheel feels as realistic as can be expected and is simple to use. I enjoyed playing racing games MUCH more w/ this product(other games, nfs shift, paridise burnout, baja 1000,nfs und.cover, nfs pro street& of course,GT prolouge 5. I hear there are more games that are compatiable on manufacturer website.Get more detail about Logitech PlayStation 3 Driving Force GT Racing Wheel.

Darksiders Best Quality

War Stories

Darksiders, brought to us from Vigil Studios and published by THQ, puts players in the shoes of War, one of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse. The opening act of the game takes place in the midst of a battle royal between heaven and hell. Apparently celestial politics are even more contentions than the knockdown drag out political fights found here on earth. Shadowy forces in heaven and hell have decided that they can't wait for the end of the world to happen in its due course and have jumpstarted the end of days. War makes the mistake of showing up to the party early, only to find that it's a false alarm and that not all of the seven seals have been broken, which apparently is the official start of the Apocalypse. War shows up without his 3 fellow horsemen, in time to witness, and participate in a battle between angels and demons.

The celestial powers that be answer to The Charred Counsel, which amongst other things arbitrates disputes between heaven and hell. They promptly lay much of the blame for the Apocalypse at War's feet. He's stripped of his rank and much of his power and instead of being put to death manages to convince the counsel to let him return to earth to find the ones responsible for jumping the gun on the Apocalypse.

If that little summary seems convoluted, it's because Darksider's story is hopelessly so, but oddly, that's part of the game's charm. The story is epic, over the top and the characters are larger than life. Before your time with Darksiders is over you'll go toe to toe with demons the size of houses. You'll spill thousands of gallons of demons' blood-a statistic the game tracks. The voice work is superb, especially that of Mark Hammil, voice of the Joker in Batman the Animated Series. The game is clearly meant to be a new franchise as it nicely lays the ground work for a sequel. While the story is nowhere near as well written as God of War, I found it more than compelling enough to want to see it through to the end, which took me the better part of 20 hours. In any follow up, I'd like to see at least a few human beings. Watching angels, demon lords and mythical creatures punch one another through the ruins of mankind's cities never got old, but it would have been nice to see how humanity dealt with the end of the world. Where were our armies? Surely the angels and demons didn't shrug off our nuclear arsenals and our cruise missiles, right? Darksiders has a good story, but I think that there's a great one yet to be told set in the amazing world Vigil has created.

The Art of War

One of the more striking things about Darksiders is the art direction. It feels very much like the comics that came out in the 90s. I'm thinking here of Todd McFarlane's Spawn, and Rob Liefield's Youngblood. This comic book aesthetic isn't surprising since comic book great, Joe Madureira, is responsible for much of the Darksiders' development and all of its character design. The horseman, War, is huge, hulk sized, in fact. In comparison to objects in the game world, like cars and the occasional bus you'll be lobbing at the demon hordes and angelic hosts, War seems to be about 8 feet tall. While War would look silly in most contexts, his outsized proportions fit perfectly into a game so epic, that it opens with nothing less than the end of the world . Bright colors, top notch character designs and excellent animations make Darksiders a visual treat. Top this off with an appropriately epic, orchestral sound track, and Darksiders ranks up there with the top games of 2010 (Darksiders was released Jan. 5, 2010, but is stacking up quite nicely against other games released later in the year).

War Games

Darksiders has a good story, great graphical and aural presentation, but how does it play? Incredibly well, actually. Vigil borrowed heavily from the game progression of the Legend of Zelda, Metroid and Castlevania schools of game design. Much of the game world is closed to you until you acquire powers and tools that enable you to go places that you could not at the beginning of War's Journey. Some of these tools are outright lifted from other games. If you're familiar with Valve's Portal game, then you'll wonder whether Vigil crossed a copyright line with its homage to the portal gun, which opens up portals to solve puzzles in Darksiders' endgame. I didn't mind though, because the game is so much fun. It's lengthy, but not boring. Its dungeon crawling has a great balance between combat and puzzle solving. Just when a puzzle is about to wear out its welcome, the solution presents itself, or combat ramps up to break the potential tedium.

Speaking of combat, it's fast and furious. As War levels up, he acquires new skills, purchased with the souls of his fallen enemies. In addition to his sword, he acquires a gun, a powerful gauntlet, and with the use of a code, a scythe. I never felt underpowered in the game, and towards the end I felt I was a match for a legion of the damned, especially after the acquisition of War's horse, Ruin, atop which you can one hit kill the game's weaker enemies.

Apocalypse Now

Darksiders kicks butt. Vigil has stormed onto the scene with a top notch third person action adventure that's remarkable for capturing the questing of the Legend of Zelda, while fusing it with the violent, comic book aesthetic of games like God of War. War is a great protagonist. To beat the game you'll have to use your thinking cap to solve puzzles as well as War's insanely muscled frame to punch demon and angel faces into oblivion. Darksiders earns its mature rating, with over the top violence. Not nearly as violent as God of War 3, but even Kratos would have to acknowledge War is no weekend warrior. Darksiders is held back only by a story that, while engaging enough as far as videogame narratives go, doesn't live up to the immense potential of the world Vigil has created. I'm looking forward to a sequel that hopefully includes we lowly mortals, if only to bring the `holier than thou' cast of characters down to earth. But consider that a nitpick. Darksiders is one of my favorite action adventure games and is easy to recommend.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game Buy Now

This game is a great solid title. It feels just like the movies and oozes with Ghostbuster Style. At $20 you can't go wrong with purchasing this game. If you were a Ghostbuster fan as a kid then this game with bring you back to memory lane while at the same time delivering a great game.

The first thing I noticed when booting up the game was the music. The music score is right out of the movies. The music is great with the comedy scenes and the intense action. The graphics are great as well. The set pieces are great especially the Stay Puff Marshmellow battle. The Photon beam you use to capture ghosts look great and the screen bursts with debris when destroying libraries, museums, cemeteries, and the other great levels. The humor made me laugh out loud as well. The voices of the characters are straight from the actors of the movies, so again this is 100% authentic Ghostbusters.

The game play is a little repetitive but then again its Ghostbusters. You go into each level looking to capture or destroy ghost entirely. Throw in the occasional puzzle elements and its robust enough that it doesnt get stale. You attain 3 different guns that are used to capture ghosts so the variety is there. Each gun is different and have a primary and secondary fire. Theres also some good exploration even though the story is linear to the core. There are scattered artifacts around the levels and collecting them all earns a trophy. Also, you have a PKE Meter which is used to find lost artifacts and scan ghosts for you to log and discover weaknesses. I was using the PKE meter frequently which doesnt get boring because sometimes when going towards a hot spot on the PKE meter it can lead to some great scare moments. You can upgrade each weapon to its full potential by purchasing upgrades such as less cool down time ( cause your guns can overheat) or to being more powerful. When blasting your way through levels you accumulate money from all the damage you unleash which are then spent on upgrading your guns. The story is great even though its sometimes hard to understand with all the techno babble Egon spits out. Then, again thats the funny part because its Ghostbusters and the game doesnt take itself seriously.

Online mode is my opinion is alright. Its co-op online in different game modes. I mean when your doing the single player story your usually with your whole team most of the time. So, when you go online its you and 3 other people which again makes it feel like your playing with AI most of the time. Online doesnt add to the experience its there to have you relive the single player experience of hunting and trapping ghosts which is what Ghostbusters is all about, except you can do it with friends.

Over all Great game. A must buy, especially at $20. You'll get your moneys worth and if you dig the multiplayer then you get something extra as well. 5 stars because I enjoyed it all the way through with its great story, solid game play and i always came back for more. 4 stars overall because the multiplayer was not great but ok and is not needed to enjoy the overall package.Get more detail about Ghostbusters: The Video Game.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Order Now

I always wonder why star wars games for the most part end up being crap, i mean some for sure are good, but for the most part they're either bad, or barely slightly above average. With some notable exceptions of course which i'll mention in a bit.
This game fails in so many different ways, there was so much potential in it, but somehow at each point in the game where you smell the potential, it somehow manages to not only disappear, but you basically forget it was even there. The developers here succeeded in ruining almost every possible piece of this game that could have been fun, and in many cases, i don't understand why. Let's go into the details...

There is some good, let's start with it first and get it out of the way...

GRAPHICS: Game has generally attractive graphics, may not up to par with some big dogs we have on the PS3, but it looks very well, specially lightsaber effects, as well as force effects. There are some levels though, that seem kind of messy, particularly the junk / jungle type of levels, personally i felt the ship type levels were the most visually attractive.

STORY: the story is kind of simple, but it works well, some voice acting could've been better, i particularly found the main character dull and boring, but overall, it gets the job done.

Now with the bad....brace yourselves....

GAMEPLAY: my my, where to begin? how i hate you, let me count the ways...There is just so many things wrong here, it's hard to focus on a single thing. For starters, you're supposed to be this huge powerful Sith, and the force powers you acquire are supposed to reflect that, but throughout the entire game you don't feel like one at all. Even the most simple of enemies, like the stormtroopers, can kick your ass, it just doesn't make sense at all with the power the game tries to establish. Every hack and slash game has it's share of low level and high level enemies, in the case of god of war for example, you have your share that give you trouble, and you have your share that you mop the floor with, but god of war manages to make you feel like the powerful being that you are.

Not here though, here you slash at a storm trooper 3 times, and he gets up, you STAB him with your saber, and he gets up.... i mean what the hell?, and it only gets worse as your force powers increase. Yes you have the amazing power to bring a star destroyer down with your bare hands, but a storm trooper with some silly shield can take every force power you can throw at him? lighting, force push, grip, nothing works on many these guys, it's like the game makes you a god, and then sets everything up so your power is useless, what the hell is the point of doing it then?

Every part of this game that could have been fun, ends up being ruined by extremely HORRIBLE design, everything ends up being just unbearably frustrating, not fun, the star destroyer example above is one example, one of the most horrible gaming experiences i have ever gone through. That particular piece could've been made GREAT, but it's just one of many things that end up getting screwed up, and you just don't wanna have to go through it ever again.

Another thing that SUCKS BIG TIME, is the fighting mechanics, often you'll find yourself dying, and it's not obvious at all how it happened, you're slashing here, slashing there, and all of a sudden, you see 90 percent of your life went away, no explosion, no nothing, you died, this happens VERY VERY often, particularly in jedi fights, where the mechanics are the most HORRIBLE.
This is one of the places where the wasted potential is more obvious, the fights don't make sense, you can't even clearly tell when your opponent is blocking or not, or if you're actually hitting him, if you're being effective at all. Jedi Knight series is very old and even the fights there were much better than the ones here. What happened here? this is where the game needs to thrive. Camera view also doesn't help here.

I could go on forever with the gameplay shortcomings of this game, but let me move on to even another area where this games "SHINES". And it's BUGS, this game has MANY MANY BUGS. They range from frustrating clipping problems, all of the sudden you can't move and nothing is on your way, sometimes you get frozen in mid air while you jump, there are platforms you're supposed to be able to climb onto, but when you try, you keep slipping off OVER AND OVER, makes you think like you really can't get on there, but you CAN, 15 attempts later you do get on, it's just STUPID. Also when you pause and then unpause, there's a small delay many times of 1-2 seconds for some reason, before you can actually move, unfortunately though, enemies CAN move while you're frozen like a bitch, so many times they'll end you in those 2 seconds. Bosses (Vader for example) sometimes freeze, and you need to die in order to start over again. Also, i've died one or two times because when a real time video occurs, of enemies coming into play, sometimes they fire at me before the video is actually over....so when it is you're already less than half health...

Did they bother hiring testers for this?

I could say much more but the above probably covers enough. Thankfully the pain only cost 8 dollars for me, but feel sorry for those who bought at full price. Hopefully the sequel will improve this a lot, much like Assassins Creed 2 was a huge improvement of the first one, we shall find out soon enough.Get more detail about Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

Heavenly Sword Decide Now

This game was a very beautiful game. I love action games and this one is quite the hack n slash, but it also requires some skill as well. Some parts in the game are quite hard and are very challenging. Especially some of the bosses and also the parts where you have the 'aim' the arrows using the six axis. That was a very cool, unique, and fun element which was added to the game.

The reason I gave this game 5 stars is mainly based off the soundtrack and voice acting. Dont get me wrong, the game play was awesome as well, but the soundtrack was VERY nicely executed. The soundtrack is somparable to a major motion picture and the voice acting is bar none the best voice acting I have EVER seen in a video game and possibly even better than most CG movies made to date. It made the storyline very believable which really engulfed you into the game. You dont realize how big of a difference this makes until you play this game. I was kinda hoping this would raise the bar for the gaming creation community as far as really getting a games 3D models to portray accurate facial expressions and lip synching, but am still disappointed to date with even the newer releases of incredibly high budget games such as God of War 3, which is one of my favorite games of all time, but the voice acting is no where in comparison to Heavenly Sword.

I borrowed this game from a friend, beat it, and had a hard time handing it back to him. I highly recommend this game and think I will just have to buy my own copy for keepsake even though I've already beat it. +++Get more detail about Heavenly Sword.

It makes it so much easier to send messages to my friends on PS3 instead of using the controller to navigate on the on-screen keyboard. Talk about hunt and peck. Ugh!! The only thing is, the price. If it were maybe 5-10 dollars cheaper, it wouldn't have taken me so long to get one. But it is very good. Good product. Getting lots of use out of it, trust me!!

Low Price Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection

This game's been reviewed to death, and most of the glowing reviews are spot-on. I adore pinball, and didn't expect that I'd like virtual simulations much at all. Not so; I bought this first for Wii, and again for PS3 to get the additional newer tables (MM, NGG, AN). I seem to recall taking a little time getting used to the physics, but after that it was all smooth sailing, it became instinct. The graphics are eye-popping, the sound's great, I've racked up countless hours on this game.

A five-star rating becomes four for the following nits:

* Some of the Smart Cams aren't so smart. Also, you can't save your camera settings across sessions and tables. ie, every time you start up a new game after starting your system, you'll have to click through to the camera you want. Mildly annoying.
* The unlockables are pretty sparse. Custom ball, turning off tilt, reversing the table. That's it. They could have put in more.
* They really should have put in a means to cheat, frankly. Either as an unlockable, or something you can purchase with your virtual credits, or something. If you need ten balls to finally get to the Sun in Pinbot, or get to Battle for the Kingdoms in Medieval Madness, you should be able to tune these settings. If you own the pin, you can tweak the settings in the ROMs, they should have unlocked that here!
* Adding a way to go through the sounds and music from each table would have been a great add. Some of the high score music or multiball tunes are really great, and it'd be nice to just play them.
* Bring on Twilight Zone already. (DLC support for additional tables would have been spiff.)

None of these should stop a pinball fan from picking up this game. Highly recommended.Get more detail about Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection.

Cheapest Star Ocean: The Last Hope International

So, this game will seem very familiar for those of you who played Star Ocean: Til the End of Time. This is hopefully informative for those of you on the fence, and will help give a normal review without comments raving about minor details.

What's fun?

- Lengthy RPG, plenty of time to spend on this title, which is both on a positive and negative.
- Ability to switch Battle voices on/off, AND switch to Japanese.
- Load times are SHORT. I do like this in a game. The game doesn't load too often, and if when it does it is a very short wait time.
- Different character endings, like the previous Star Ocean titles.
- Fun free-roaming combat system, new blindside system and rush system add more to combat.
- Decent enough story when compared to other RPG's available.
- The ability to switch who you play as! On the fly as well, you can swap the leader mid-battle and control someone else for a change in gameplay. Don't like to slash up in someone's face? Then pick another character and go have some fun.

What's boring?

- This title is obviously dated, and with it already a port from the XBOX360, don't expect the graphics to wow you at all. The open areas have pretty boring textures, and modeling/cutscenes are reminiscent of a PS2 game.
- As mentioned above, be prepared to invest some serious time into this game. If you're a trophy type of player, expect an absurd amount of hours to actually get the platinum.
- The music in this game is lacking when it comes to battles. I love hearing the same song for every battle that I encounter. (Which is quite frequent in this title)
- The A.I. is not very unique, or smart. Think of Boomer from Socom, now give him a couple characters to control in an RPG and you have your A.I. Often times it almost looks as if they get bored and want you to do something, so they stop moving.
- Save points are far and few between, unless you do the spastic sprint by all the enemies. But in doing so, you make the bosses very hard.
- Boss difficulty does NOT scale well with the enemies you face leading up to the boss. They're challenging like in the past, but due to the combat system seem to be more challenging than they should be.

If you're in the market for a RPG, and weren't satisfied with FFXIII, then pick this title up. The story is decent, nothing that will be praised for years to come, but interesting enough. The biggest hurdle that I encountered with this game was the first few hours. It starts off very slow, a couple cutscenes, quick battle simulator, then talking, walking around lost, then magically you battle things. The combat system is enough to keep you playing, between a bonus board to stack battle bonuses, and new combat toys to play with and create more challenge, it's a refreshing game to play through. Throw in hours of bonus content for beating the game, and FOUR difficulty settings, you will have plenty of gameplay, and a RPG that is actually challenging..Get more detail about Star Ocean: The Last Hope International.

Cheap MLB 2K10

In general, I would say this game is fun. The graphics are good and I like the announcers they have for this game.

One thing that I do not like about this game is that is freezes a lot. I have tried to contact 2K Sports about this problem, but I have not really gotten any resolutions.

Another thing I really don't like about this game is that is can be difficult to see a base. In order to steal a base, the L1 or L2 button has to be held down depending if the user wants one player to steal a base or if the user wants multiple players to steal a base. The problem I have with this is that, if the user holds the button down before the pitcher throws the ball to home plate, the base runner usually gets picked off. If the user holds down the button after the pitcher throws the ball towards home plate, the player gets to the next base way to late. Also, there have been times where I have held down the L1 or L2 button and the runner did not even attempt to steal. I wish there would have been a simpler way to steal a base.Get more detail about MLB 2K10.

Buying Brutal Legend

I was on the borderline of 5 stars and wasn't sure about giving it a 4 or a 5. But this game is really one of the best games I've played in a while. As many other reviewers have said.. I didn't know it was going to be an RTS game (Real Time Strategy, which is where you gather resources, build armies and direct those armies to kill the other army. Don't get me wrong I like RTS games, but only on the PC. But the character voicing, the storyline, the art, graphics, music is fantastic. At 20$ this is well worth it. If you play on Brutal difficulty, it takes a more than 6 hours to beat it. If you are doing all the side quests, it takes more than 6 hours to beat it. Sounds like a lot of people that are complaining about the time just rushed through it without enjoying the game to it's full. Love it.Get more detail about Brutal Legend.

Purchase BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger Standard Edition

Having grown up and playing the Street Fighter games as well as being introduced to the Guilty Gear games this newest game from the Aksys makers is simply incredible. If you've played the GG games than the basic game play and storylines for this game shouldn't come as to much of a surprise to you and while there might not be as many playable characters to choose from like Tekken 6 or Street Fighter IV the characters they do have are very entertaining to play as well as the special moves and combos you can unleash with them. The characters like Tekken 6 and SF Iv have their own stories you can unlock but for the most part it's mostly meant to be what it is a fighting game, the one thing I truly loved about this game is like SF IV you can have the characters voices either with the English actors/actresses or the Japanese voice cast to listen to which I truly appreciate since there are some games that while the original voice cast were probably very good the English voices turned out to be just awful to even listen too. The added extras are very decent and for the price of the game very reasonable as well so if you're a game fan of the Tekken or Street Fighter Universe and are looking for something new to play here's a very good choice to try out....Get more detail about BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger Standard Edition.

Where To Buy Fight Night: Round 4

Extreme positives and extreme negatives made this review a fair one, right down the middle a 3. Let me start by saying that my official online ranked record (FLAWED to the extreme) is 647 Wins, 110 Loss, 0% DNF (DidNotFinish). I have been keeping track of how BAD EA Servers just cannot fix the constant plagueing bugs of online disconnects by opponents who is obviously loosing and disconnects and no loss assigned to them and no win attributed to me. I have over 200+ knockout wins that should have assigned to me but robbed. No worries. I never gave up, I keep fighting and now I have a great record ANYWAYS.

Online support is what gives this review a 3 instead of stellar 5. I love this game, I play it -- so addicting but Electronics Arts is just totally irresponsible to address their loyal customer's need -- online server that is able to detect disconnect by opponents and assign a loss to them. How hard can it be to implement some type of security certificate showing that your PS3 game is still in progress while your opponents has exited the game? EA won't even address this problem after 8 months this game has been out. One visit to the EA Sports forum, you'll see what I'm talking about. EA Online support is ZERO in my opinion but I'll be courteous for EA making this great game so a 1. 5 + 1 = 6 / 2 = 3 STARS.

IMPORTANT FACT: FNR4 heavily favors counters, so EA has made counters the #1 most powerful damage dealer and can seriously impair you. Even a haymaker is no where near damaging than a counter. To this end, there are hordes of people trying to exploit counter, using bizarre non-realistic repeating body spinning and blocking up-and-down as fast as they can. Quite the entertainment value watching these scary mouse doing these in front of me. Many new comers gave up because they don't know how to handle these predominant exploit players and get knocked out over and over. Making counter too powerful is one major "realism" flaw EA put in their design but because of the fun factor, they never got rid of it -- so I lived with it and adapted. AFTERALL, it IS a GAME - it has to have something NOT realistic but good for the replay reels. Don't give up because there are ways to fight these cheap bastards and I use a combination of body punches, jabs, haymakers and just use quick fist and feet (distance) to frustrate them. When you fight CPU, you can see the stamina & health bars. Learn what happens when you body hook and watch their stamina go down. Your key to these counter-exploiters is lower their stamina to NOTHING -- making their counters ineffective (minimal damage -- though still buggy as they can still flash knock-out you at a low percentage rate). Learn to increase your landing rate over 60%-70% or higher by using 1 quick jab and back up to avoid counters, you'll get tons of points in between rounds to keep your stamina and health up into the later rounds -- that will MAKE a huge difference in knocking your out of breath opponents. You can also get more points by faking coming to your opponent and just back off and watch him throw 5-6 jabs and body punches in mid-air... quite the entertainment. lowering their punch% and increase your % to avoid punches... you lower his repair points in between rounds and building yours will all add up to a great victory later.

Whether you should buy this game? I would say so if you can put up with online issues -- overall, I would say the PROs must have outweight the CONs as I keep finding myself playing this game almost daily. I have never found a boxing sim this addicting before! It has serious depth into boxing sim than any games that come before it. I used to play Chris Taylor's 4D Sports Boxing back in the early 1990's before he got famous. I have always love boxing SIM. 4 is definately smoother than 3 in terms of graphics frame rate, a GREAT improvement. I remember I love FNR3 but ever since 4 came out, I don't know why but I keep working at FNR4 until I get good at it. BUY it if you're serious about a boxing sim, it's rewarding despite all the downfalls. Don't buy it if you're casual gamer seeking online entertainment, because online is filled with land mines waiting to blow up your limbs and speed up your white hair growth. You gotta want PAIN in order to survive.Get more detail about Fight Night: Round 4.

Shop For Resistance: Fall Of Man

Resistance: "Fall of Man", is a first-person action game that has an interesting plot and wonderful fighting areas. The aliens are very mysterious and extremely terrifying. Playing this game during the solo missions (without friendly AI assistance) makes this game scary and will make one feel isolated and lonely among the creatures. The feeling of isolation can get so intense, that players will actually feel relieved when they run into their fellow human allies.

The areas once teeming with people feel spooky, abandoned, and one wonders if humans are just another species, doomed for extinction. The enemy AI is smart and one can guarantee that aliens are just waiting to ambush you among the ruins.

Ultimately, this game is very well done and improves on the first-person genre. For example, the controls are fast and fluid and there is tons of action without frame-rate issues. The game also seems devoid of pauses that stop the action for the sake of loading more information. In contrast, Killzone 2, while a good game has that annoying problem. While it's true that Resistance can be labeled as just another title in the genre, it can also be said that a similar title has never attained this level of perfection.

In conclusion, this title is a must buy for all PS3 owners. It is now even more reasonably priced, since the sequel to it was released and it remains one of the best games for the system.

This is a really great addition to the Soul Calibur series. There are some issues and it lacks some depth on the one player modes... but overall the game is fun. Sony PS3 Street Fighter IV FightStick Tournament Edition Buy Now

When I saw the big price drop on this stick recently, I finally gave in and ordered it. I kept thinking about getting one for when Super Street Fighter 4 comes out, but I'd keep changing my mind at the last minute. With the 2 newer models, maybe this one wasn't as good as those? After reading that they're essentially the same but with different looks, it just sealed the deal along with the price drop. If you're sick of having trouble doing special moves thanks to the ps3's d-pad with its separate buttons for each direction, this will definitely help.

Right out of the box, everything worked perfectly (and smelled good too). The stick isn't as heavy as some wusses made it sound, and won't shift around when you set it down on a table or in your lap. The button layout is perfect, though I'm sure with a couple of games (like SSF2HDR), you'll need to change the button configuration in-game to make everything work best for you. Playing HD Remix with the stick was MUCH easier than with the controller, though I thought it'd take some time since I rarely got to play games in arcades over the years. The buttons have rounded tops, and I prefer them that way over buttons that kind of go inward. The cable's a good length too, and unless you have a massive tv far away from your couch, I don't see anyone having complaints about it being too short.

There have been some complaints about the stick using a square gate, and how an octagon or rounded one is better for certain characters (ones that use circular commands for special moves instead of charging ones). I noticed the square gate immediately when I moved the stick around, and was a bit concerned that it could ruin special moves, but of course there weren't any issues. Wouldn't these FightSticks have lower ratings if that were the case? I was pulling off Hurricane Kicks and Dragon Punches right off the bat. My only gripe is a small one, and it's that I don't like how clicky everything is. That's probably just because I don't play at arcades very much, but even the stick clicks, and that's not something I remember hearing on any cabinet. 'no big deal though, and since you'll be focused on playing the game, I doubt anyone else will notice.

What else is there to say? While the newer models might look cooler, and they -are- a little smaller, this FightStick is excellent and since you're saving a good amount of money, you might as well go with it since it's a little heavier. You can always customize it too since it was made with the super hardcore arcade stick fans in mind, and opening it up is easy. But for those who just plain want to buy an arcade stick and play upon opening it, it's hard to recommend any others over this for the price. Good job Mad Catz. And here I was thinking the only good thing they did was the light gun for House of the Dead 3.Get more detail about Sony PS3 Street Fighter IV FightStick Tournament Edition.

Tekken 6 Limited Edition Wireless Fight Stick Bundle Order Now

First off; if you like fighting games, you need one (or two) of these wireless arcade sticks. There is no noticeable lag whatsoever, and the units are large enough for any size hands. Now, on to the game: Tekken 6 has refined its' mechanics to a very high degree. The game is a blast. As I write this, my friends and I have played over 70 straight rounds in a round-robin tourney. Even my friend's wife has played and enjoyed herself. I will break my review down as follows:

Graphics: 4/5. The game looks great. It isn't the best in the graphics category, but the characters and stages are filled with detail and dynamic interaction. Some stages are even multi-tiered, similar to the DOA series.

Sound: 5/5. A good job was done with the music, and the surround effects. For a fighter, the sound is excellent, and even the voice acting is good.

Gameplay: 5/5. I was never a huge Tekken fan, because the controls felt sloppy compared to other fighters. Not so with Tekken 6. Combos can be hard to learn at first, because it plays differently than other fighters, but the controls are responsive, and make sense.

Fun: 5/5. Like I said, the game is a blast. Nearly every character in the game is opened from the get-go, meaning you don't have to grind through arcade or story to have a large roster.

If you're a fighter fan, get this set. The only complaint have is that you have to buy two copies of the game to get two sticks.Get more detail about Tekken 6 Limited Edition Wireless Fight Stick Bundle.

God of War III: Ultimate Edition Decide Now

This review's coming from someone who doesn't flip out over everything God of War-related, or says that you should get something just because it has to do with God of War. Face it- for the price this 'ultimate' edition's going for, you probably want to be getting your money's worth, right? I hadn't played God of War 3 until I got this set just last week, and I didn't spend more than retail for it, but even then, I can't see how this is an 'ultimate' edition of God of War 3.

First up, the main selling point of this edition- Pandora's Box. It's a cheaply made plastic box that looks just like the one in the game. The plastic they used to make this is very soft, and you can probably snap the horns off of the sides with even a tiny bit of effort. There isn't a lot of fine detail on this, and it looks a lot like some kind of Halloween decoration you'd find at a party store in October. The bottom of the box has no detail at all either. This could make a decent box to hold candy in style, but given how it looks in-person, there's not a lot of style to it.

When you open Pandora's Box, the art book is waiting for you. This is probably the best thing about this set, aside from the game, and it's a lot better than the one that got released in the UK, which was rushed and had the same quality as your typical instruction manual. The US art book is a hardcover book, about 100 pages, and features tons of great art. Enemies, scenery, sketches, there's a lot of impressive work and if you're one of those fans that wants a GoW tattoo, this would be a good book to scout. The book isn't that big since it had to fit in Pandora's Box, but I don't have any complaints about it because you can see everything clearly.

Under the book, you'll see a black ribbon on the side of the 'bottom' of the box. Pull it up and it turns out that it was guarding a secret compartment (well, I use that term loosely) where the game is. Nope, there are no cds for the soundtracks that the box advertises, but instead, they're included as DLC, along with the Dominus skin, Exile Arena and documentary. There's a code for each bonus inside of the game case. The game features the same art as the retail version, and is identical except it doesn't have a bar code, and just says 'not for resale' in its place.

When it comes down to it, this sucker going for over a Benjamin is a rip-off. The game alone is worth around half of that, the DLC is cheap on its own (hint hint), the art book is nice but you can always find the same images online, and Pandora's Box is a joke. I know you can't expect much of a replica for the price, but they sure as heck coulda tried harder. Maybe if they included the God of War Collection like the UK version did, I'd be more forgiving since it'd be more for your buck. And if this is supposed to be the be-all edition of God of War 3, why include just one of the many skins available? Why not include all of them? But as it is, you're better off just getting the game on its own, and then getting the DLC separately.

I think Kratos would've went off about REVENGE(!) and tracked down those responsible for making it if he had seen this set.Get more detail about God of War III: Ultimate Edition.

Lowest Price Dragon Age: Origins Awakening

If Dragon Age Origins had never existed and this came out, I would probably give it 4 stars and be tempted to go 5. But having played through Origins about 6 times and then loading this up after months of anticipation, I was disappointed. I was going into it knowing that there would be a bit less content but we had been told it would be about 30 hrs and (at least for me) it was around 20. I could live with that I suppose....if that were the only letdown and it wasn't.

Cons: The game only somewhat seems to be a continuation of the previous game. It uses your character that you load but you are called "Warden Commander" no matter how you finished the last game. I was King of Ferelden in some of the games I loaded and other than a brief encounter with Anora, you would never have known I was anything other than a warden commander. There is VERY little involvement of your party members from Origins.

The Boss fights are nothing too special, no arch-demon or even Flemeth equivalent in this one.

The character development of your party members is downright weak when compared to Origins, I can't really elaborate without giving too much of the plot away...which by the way is also pretty weak when compared to Origins.

Pros: Same good graphics, same fighting system so if you liked Origins then you'll like this, more spells/skills and a few more level ups.

Conclusion: I would liken this to The Burning Crusade for World of Warcraft in that if you like the game and your character then you have to get this for the extra levels in case you get to keep your character in the next installment. It's pretty good, it just doesn't live up to Dragon Age Origins in any way.Get more detail about Dragon Age: Origins Awakening.

Save Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe

I've been out of the console-gaming loop for a number of years, and this game kind of reinforced my decision to put the controller down. My last experience with a console game was a Ratchet and Clank game for PS2. Although the PS3 does have much better graphics, I don't find the gaming experience all that much better than it was on the PS2.

The worst thing about this game was the ridiculous techno-babble dialog in "story mode". How these actors said those lines with a straight face is beyond me. I laughed out loud many times when Superman, Wonder Woman and Shazzam spouted off about yellow energy rifts and super rage. Even 40's pulp science fiction had more believeable dialog than this stinker did. It was also really funny when the characters would talk for a few minutes, and then one of them would get into a stance and say "FIGHT!"

The gameplay was just what one would expect from a fighting game. Two guys (or girls. Or a guy and a girl) square off in some big open area and start beating each other up. They shoot beams, firballs, ice, bullets, lightning, and things of that nature at each other. Somehow, a good middle block can mitigate the effects of a flamethrower, but that's just a part of fighting games in general, and really isn't a terrible problem with this title.

Story mode is really just silly fight porn. The story isn't designed to tell an actual story, it's designed to get the characters into one on one fights. The pretense for these fights is usually pretty inane, and even when a DC Hero fights a DC villain, they have to exchange a few campy lines before one of them says "Fight!" and the fight is on.

One thing I always hated about fighting games like Mortal Kombat is the insane button combinations you have to learn to pull off the really flashy moves. The computer, on the other hand, can do the same flashy moves without mashing any buttons at all, which puts the poor fingered human player at a disadvantage. Games like God of War prove that a game doesn't require insane button combinations to enable the player to perform flashy moves. That's not really a knock against this game in particular, but more of a knock against fighting games in general.

My verdict is pretty simple. If you like fighting games, you'll probably not mind the horrendously dumb dialog. If you're looking for something a little more in depth, then this game probably won't satisfy.

Cheapest Super Street Fighter IV Arcade FightStick Tournament Edition S - Black

This is my first professional grade Arcade Stick. I currently own the poorly made Tekken 5 Arcade stick as well as the Xbox360 wireless Tekken 6 stick. They are very good for beginners, but until I owned this particular device, I never knew what I was missing. The buttons are perfect, never sticky, and are extremely sensitive to the touch which allows for much better execution. The stick is very fluid, and, while it took alot of practice to be able to perform moves, once you get the hang of it, you will never want to go back to standard controllers for fighting games.

With that said, the most mind boggling thing about this product is the sharp edge. Who thought that this would be a good idea? I am not a wimp by any means, but after a few hours of playing, you can definitely feel the edge rubbing against your wrist. The best way to remedy this is to have perfect posture and make sure you're sitting above the stick with your wrists raised off of the device, however, Mad Catz should have thought this one through more.

Because of this one design flaw, I cannot give it a full five stars. However, I still recommend this product, as it will lift your game to new heights with the proper practice.Get more detail about Super Street Fighter IV Arcade FightStick Tournament Edition S - Black.

Buy Need for Speed: Shift

I used to have a racing game that enjoyed playing when I had a PS1. Boy, does this game ever blow that one away! In fact, I've never played a racing game that was more fun than this one.

On this game you can buy & trade cars, change the paint job and customize them visually. The more you win, the better cars you're able to buy and the more upgrades you're able to do. I must concede that I'm partial to a souped-up Lamborgini that I picked up. I can dominate a lot of racetracks driving it! You can also buy more than one car > you have maxed out your upgrades.

The controls are similar to GTA, which is a good thing as the controls are fairly logical. One nice thing is that you don't have any annoying "checkpoints" of earlier racing games.

The game does a great job of providing variety in races. You can race "manufacturers challenge" where every driver gets the exact same car (that way nobody has an advantage w/their vehicle). You can do head-to-head challenges between two different cars. There are also lap eliminator & time eliminator races that are thrown in as well.

Almost all of the major car manufacturers are on the game; Nissan, Toyota, Aston Martin, Chervolet, Ford, Lamborgini, Audi, Mercedes, etc. The only major brand that is omitted is Ferrari. That's too bad as I'm a huge fan of Ferrari! Ostensibly, the licensing didn't work out as I can't see the makers of the game simply forgetting about such a major manufacturer of exotic automobiles.

If you like racing games, then more than likely you will like this one. Sure, the laws of physics are toned down in the game, but to have more realistic physics would be to degrade the playability of the game. This is at once one of the most frustrating games I've ever played, and at the same time it's one of the funnest games I've ever played. You can drive with the precision of Mario Andretti, or you can be so aggressive that you make NASCAR drivers look like downright courteous operators. In short, it's everything a racing game should be!Get more detail about Need for Speed: Shift.

Order PROTOTYPE

Have you ever read a comic book where the hero or a villain can turn their hands into stuff? Carnage from Spider-Man, Warblade from WildC.A.T.S., that kinda thing. Have you ever really wanted to be able to do it yourself? Thats what Prototype is. Basically, the player character can re-shape his body into weapons, armor and disguises, all of which he'll need because apparently every soldier on Earth and every parallel Earth in which everyone still thought 'give peace a chance' belonged on bumper stickers and not in politics is after him. And why are they after him? Well, thats pretty much the only interesting plot point. I won't say it in case you're one of the people who'll end up caring about the story, but most of the plot is pretty 'meh'.

A lot of people compare this to InFamous, and I can see their point. They're both good games and I hope are pioneering a genre I like to call "Super-Sandbox", in other words, GTA with super-powers. Its a great idea and has potential as massive as The Hulk. While I think the electric powers in InFamous are more versatile and allow for more control over who you want him to be, they're also less active. Its sometimes difficult to survive being surrounded if they know you're there. Not so in Prototype. You can butcher blocks and blocks and blocks of guys with guns, helicopters, tanks and monsters without much trouble. Maybe not as strategic, but it has a certain visceral quality to it InFamous lacks.

The other big difference is morality. In InFamous, you can be a hero or a bad guy (sort of). Prototype's...uh, player character Alex is under no illusions about his alignment and I find being truly chaotic neutral to be very interesting. Alex' weapons are easy to use but if you care about not killing pedestrians, good luck. Everything but bare fists are going to catch someone you may not mean it to. But the only reason it matters is if you want it to. There is no punishment or reward for doing good or bad acts so it really doesn't matter how you play. Blend into the crowds, kill all of them, whatever. I like that. The only downside is that, as far as I can tell, you can't be a good guy and I'd kind of like the option. Theres no pleasing me.

Disguises are good in theory but they don't really work when I need them to. If I just want to walk around and see the sights, its fine but sometimes I need to infiltrate a base, which is done in a weird way. You have to grab a soldier of mid rank, consume and become him, go into the base, disable the machines that can see through disguises except the flying ones, which give you away instantly even if nobody sees you destroy it, then grab the base commander. Hes always accompanied by other soldiers, so the second you grab him, the whole base is on alert and an attack team is en route. Then, you have to escape with him, unless some dumbass enemy kills him before you escape which they often do unless you're decent with evading while running up walls, get out of sight of aerial units, eat him, become him, go back and enter the base. I've observed the commanders for ten minutes and they never have times where they're alone, meaning you have to do all that for every base. Not a huge deal, despite this paragraph, but a pain, especially when the strike team are in top form and you can't shake them. But once you're in that base, its pure Prototype fun. Maybe fifty guys, all just waiting to be slashed, cleaved, bashed, sliced, eaten alive, shot or splattered against the wall. Its really fun, and its a lot of the game if you'll let it be.

So, buy Prototype? It would be pretty pointless to say I would since I already did. But I don't feel cheated and thats pretty good.Get more detail about PROTOTYPE.

James Bond 007: Quantum of Solace

007, these three little numbers have put fear in the hearts of a many villians within the 007 games. And they can continue being scared...

007 Quantum of Solace is the official video game to the movie Quantum of Solace, Only much, much better. The movie was good, but this game is so much better than anything you'll see in the movie. The game starts off where Casino Royal(the movie) left off. The graphics are prime PS3. And there is no glitches in the game that I have found (And I've played it just about seven times, so I'd like to think I'd know if there was a glitch. ;)) Now since there was no video game for Casino Royal they worked a little refresher into this game to keep you along with the plot. So yes you as 007 will be going to Miami, FL, and all the way to Venice, Italy following along with the story line. If you may think that's boring, the game keeps you fighting mercenaries with bad PMS that havn't got the memo that 007 is coming. It's a high octane game.

Game Play: the game play is your basis shooter with a little flare. It is a 1st person shooter (so all you will see is bonds hands [unless you take cover than you get to see his face])You get an arrange of weapons to take out your ememy and if you just don't feel like takinng out your enemy with your guns then why don't you take him out with your bare hands. Yes in this 007 you can steath kill a enemy by walking up behind him or running up too him and hitting the R3 button. The Game Play is relitivly easy to the hang of. You also get some gagetry. You can use 007's cell phone (with a little help from Q) to patch into servalence videos and hach doors with your cell as well.

007 games have been around for along time, from stick pistols in the backyard humming the infamous tune of the Theme of 007 now all the way to your TV screen. I've played a few 007 games from Agent under Fire to Everything or Nothing. I am a 007 fan and I feel as if the two newer 007 movies have had much to be desired. however this game definatly makes up for what the two newer movies lacked. This is definatly a goood buy and it definatly rank high on my 007 games list's of likes.

PlayStation 3 Wireless keypad Review

There is little to say about this keypad, it does what it's supposed to, and makes a fine add-on that simplifies text entry a lot (compared to the default method of navigating through an on-screen keyboard with your controller). It is of course not suitable for writing *a lot of* text, simply because of the tiny keys and the fact that you can pretty much only use your thumbs.

This device needs to be recharged separately, which I always forget and end up with it not being charged when I need it. If you have two DualShocks and this pad, you'll have to take care of charging three devices which could exceed the number of your USB ports, so you have to rotate.

Also, for people eyeing at the touchpad feature, be warned it's very imprecise, and not really useful.Get more detail about PlayStation 3 Wireless keypad.

Resonance of Fate This instant

Noted RPG developer tri-Ace continue their work of creating excellent role-playing games with Resonance of Fate (RoF). In Japan, this game is also called End of Eternity. Not only does RoF follow the traditional RPG formula in many key ways, but it also reinvents how it is presented with a unique story and complex battle system. Unlike new arrivals, such as Final Fantasy XIII, RoF does not try to appeal to the mainstream. Instead, it is an RPG, not unlike Demon's Souls, in that the game appeals to the more hardcore gamer.

Story: The main story of Resonance of Fate centers on three characters, Vashyron, Zephyr, and Leanne. The game doesn't really do anything too innovative in the story content itself, but the presentation is unique among most role-playing games. Unlike most RPG's where the story is doled out bit by bit over the course of a chapter or act, RoF's core story only occurs at the beginning or end of a chapter, and following a major boss battle. Thus, you can finish chapters at your own pace without the feeling of being dragged along by the story. This method of storytelling does have the benefit of allowing the gamer to pace themselves, but with several hours between story sequences, it feels a little disjointed and difficult to remember previous events. The story content itself is largely unremarkable, and to avoid spoiling it, I'm not going to mention it, but RoF does diverge from standard RPG fare in one respect: Humor. Like all Japanese RPG's, RoF can be a touch melodramatic and over-the-top at times, however, there were several moments where I couldn't help but laugh out loud at some of the (Intentionally) funny moments. This is a major shift from RPG's that take themselves very seriously. Each of the characters have an important role to play and the story would unravel if their backgrounds were not reasonably fleshed out.

Gameplay: Resonance of Fate is meant for the more hardcore RPG players and it shows in how the game is played. The giant tower-world of Basel, think of the Tower of Babel only larger and steam punk, is where all of the game takes place and is split into 12 levels. Each level is a map covered in hexes. Initially, you are restricted to certain levels and cannot access the lower, and more dangerous, levels. From the beginning, not every energy hex on the map is open for exploration, you must use white hexes to open up the area, which can be obtained from battles. Some towns and dungeons are also locked using special colored hexes which are rarer. All energy hexes are specially shaped and you can only place them on the map in areas where the whole hex will cover an area and not fall outside the map. This adds a whole puzzle element to map exploration. If you unlock every hex on a level, you get the ability to warp back to your main base on level four from any station hex you construct on that level. Station hexes are bought using five colored hexes in guilds and allow you to save your game, rest, and head back to base. On the map, you will also find terminals which bestow special benefits on the party, such as being able to cause extra fire damage or increased experience. These terminals can only be activated using colored hexes and require a certain number of colored hexes to activate. As you lay down these colored hexes to activate the terminals, they can be chained with other terminals to increase the benefits but also over dungeons. If you enter a dungeon or have a random encounter on a colored hex which has activated terminals connected to it, you gain the benefit in battle. Terminals play a vital role in many battles and make or break some boss encounters. Towns and dungeons are similar in that you access them from the main level map, but how they are presented differ. Towns have NPC's you can interact with and purchase items from, along with a static camera, while dungeons have rotatable cameras and are like mini-hex maps, similar to the world map but on a smaller scale. RoF is entirely mission-based. The story and side missions are all lumped together in one screen so you know what is needed. Side, or guild missions, are obtained from the Hunter's Guild which releases up to three missions at once on a bulletin board for hunters, you, to perform. These missions can start out very easy, such as a standard delivery request, and can range to very difficult battles with boosted mini-bosses. Completing these guild missions gets you in-game currency and items, but also increases your hunter rank. For every one hundred levels of rank, you get a special item from the guild. RoF also does not have a deep economy even though you do have shops that provide basic equipment. The vast majority of your equipment comes from crafting, whose parts come from quests, broken down loot, or loot itself. You can customize your weapons any way you desire, though, the in-game weapon does not change in appearance, only the blueprint does. By themselves, the weapons don't do much damage, requiring you to customize them. This means that acquiring new weapons is more about the connection points and possible upgrades, rather than raw damage potential. You cannot simply add whatever part you desire to a gun since they have connection points which can restrict you to certain add-ons. Initially, you must take into consideration a weapon's weight as your characters can only equip so much, but this becomes less important as the game progresses. Another interesting, and somewhat superfluous, aspect is the degree in which you can customize your character's appearance. Each character has a wardrobe, which can be expanded at a boutique or exploring, each outfit style, called "A" and "B", has eight or so sections with items you can customize, from shirts, to pants, to holsters, to boots, even hair and eye color can be customized. So, if you want Leanne to run around Basel wearing a French maid's outfit, you can do it. If you want Zephyr to wear a reindeer costume, you've got it, too. If you want Vashyron to look like a gun slinging biker with all leather, black hair, and futuristic sunglasses, you've got that as well. Costumes don't impart any gameplay advantages, but watching Leanne dressed up as one of Santa's helpers tossing Molotov Cocktails in battle, is priceless.

Combat System: Normally, I would include this in the gameplay section, but, due to the complexity, this warrants its own section. Random encounters, compressed dungeon maps (These are dungeon's without any hexes but interconnected battle arenas), and standard dungeon encounters are where battles take place. For the majority of the game, you have all three characters active at once and the battle occurs in an arena environment. Anyone who has played Valkyria Chronicles would get the system very quickly as it shares many of the same elements. Each character is equipped with some sort of gun, either a hand gun or machine gun, along with an equipment case, such as a grenade box or first aid kit. Machine guns cause massive scratch damage in many situations, but cannot outright kill an enemy. Hand guns cause minor direct damage while converting scratch damage into direct damage. Scratch damage heals over time but direct damage is permanent. Therefore, in most battles, you should send a machinegun holder out to cause scratch damage on an enemy one turn, followed by a handgun holder the next. A magazine case is available for the machine gun and can cause status effects on an enemy. This becomes increasingly irrelevant as your characters are able to dual wield later in the game. Both grenades and handguns can cause gauge breakage to an enemy, more on that later. During battle, enemies can only perform actions when you do, thus you can go slow and plan out an attack. To perform an action, your character must "charge" their attack. The speed at which a charge happens is determined by the weapon, it's add-ons, and distance from an enemy. As the weapon charges, the damage potential increases exponentially and the possibility of combat skills activating increases, which are obtained during level up, while a timer decreases. The timer indicates the amount of time a character has during a given turn, if they aren't doing anything or stop charging a weapon, the timer, and all other battlefield activity stops. The enemy can interrupt your charge by firing at you, and you can do the same, however, it seems as though you stopping an enemy from charging their weapon is more rare. At the bottom of the screen, you have the hero gauge, which can be expanded by defeating bosses or exploring the map. The hero gauge is vital, it allows you to perform hero actions and recover if your character is overwhelmed by scratch damage. Hero actions are similar to standard attacks with a few exceptions. First, you are entirely invincible and uninterruptable. Second, time slows down while the charge rate increases. You do have a maximum amount of charge you can have, which is tied to your level in a given weapon, but it is very possible to have two or more attacks that are fully maxed out on charge. Third, you can jump over an enemy or run past them. Some enemies have protective body armor that protects their main hit point (HP) gauge, firing from the ground hits only the armor facing the character while airborne attacks hit all armor equally. From the ground, it is also possible to launch the enemy into the air and juggle them, canceling their turn but also opening up the possibility of a bonus shot which removes the restriction on the amount of charge you can have and vastly increases the amount of loot an enemy drops. While the enemy is in the air, you can jump up from the ground and join them. If you fire your weapon from a higher altitude, you can cause a "Smackdown" which is similar to spiking an American football. Performing a smackdown increases the amount of loot they drop and dazes them for a few moments. The hero gauge will also "revive" a character that has taken too much scratch damage. If one of your characters is saturated with this type of damage, the hero gauge breaks in half, you lose half of the remaining colored bezels on the gauge, and fragments of it scatter on the battlefield. Those fragments can be reacquired after the battle or during the battle. However, if the enemy obtains a bezel shard, they recover hit points. If you really mess up and the hero gauge breaks again, or you don't have any colored bezels remaining, you enter a critical condition. During this state all damage done to your squad increases, the charge rate decreases, and all damage is direct HP damage. If you lose all your HP (Hit points), it is game over. You can escape from battle or pay a fee and retry, but if you escape, you leave the battlefield and remain in the condition in which you left it until you arrive at your base or an energy station. If you choose to retry, you pay a fee and you restart the battle from the beginning in the same exact condition in which you entered it originally. This is important to remember since you cannot simply leave a compressed dungeon map without using a special item. This means that if you are deep in a dungeon without an escape hex, heavily damaged, and try to leave, you are going to have problems returning to the entrance since most enemies respawn.

Not all enemy units are equal in importance during battle. In some fights, there is also an enemy leader. If you take out this leader, you win the battle, however, some battles have no leader, necessitating an enemy-by-enemy elimination. Boss fights can also be tricky in that some are leaders with support units. These units can not only cause you harm, but automatically respawn. Hero actions are vital, you can cause an immense amount of damage in a very short time, ending the battle that much sooner. To recover hero gauge bezels expended from hero actions or a broken gauge, you can eliminate enemies or their armor. Each time you do this, a bezel is filled back in. Breaking an enemy's gauge causes their body, or their armor's, hit point gauge to fracture. To the game, a fractured gauge is treated like a full gauge. Therefore, if you fracture an enemy's gauge into four parts, you not only stun the enemy, but increase the number of bezels you can fill to four or potentially more. If your machine gunner completely loads the fractured HP gauge with scratch damage and a handgun or grenade causes the gauge to fully deplete, breaking the armor or defeating the enemy, you now have four filled bezels returned instead of just one. Hero actions can are plotted in straight lines, as you race to the end point, you are able to perform actions. You can also perform "tri-attacks", using resonance points obtained during hero actions. These resonance points are gathered by plotting, and completing, at least to the point of the intersection, a hero action passing between two other characters. During a hero action, a triangular pattern is displayed on the battlefield showing you the path each character will take. While performing a tri-attack, each character will perform an attack, in sequence, while running around the triangle. Like all attacks, you have to charge a tri-attack, however, the charging process for each character happens simultaneously. Most battlefields have walls and bunkers you can hide behind, along with exploding barrels and treasure containers. The leveling system in this game is also unique. You gain one point of experience for every point of damage you cause with a weapon. Each weapon class has an amount of experience it can obtain and the overall level of a character is determined by adding all three weapon class levels together. Therefore, if you have a level 30 in handguns, 30 in machine guns, and 30 in grenades, you have a level 90 character. After every four or five levels in a given weapon, you are granted a skill associated with that weapon. That skill compounds on top of any other skill you might have with that weapon and there is a chance for the skill to activate when you charge an attack during battle. Due to the leveling system, you should switch around weapons to ensure your characters have as many levels as possible. If this sounds complex, it is. This is one of the most complex battle systems I have ever encountered with an RPG. You must learn its nuances or you will become frustrated very quickly.

Misc.: Having finished Final Fantasy XIII, I started looking for a new RPG to play, and found Resonance of Fate. This game may not appeal to all players or sale very well, especially since it is cursed with the worst release date in history, between Final Fantasy XIII and God of War 3, but it is certainly worth a look for gamers who love RPG's or a very complex battle mechanic. At first, I was put off by the complexity, and thus, the perceived difficulty, of the game, but as I spent more time with it, I began to appreciate the title more and more. Sure, the game is brutal, but fair, and the story is jarringly split, but the way it pulls everything together is fascinating. The graphics are very nice, though, after playing Final Fantasy XIII on the PS3 in 1080p glory (That's what it says on the back of the box) and Resonance of Fate in 720p, this game doesn't look as good, but it has an interesting and highly detailed steam punk art style. The story is a little generic and presented in a series of vignettes, but the humor and quirkiness of it make it a joy to watch. Audio is also fantastic. The voice acting, with the main characters anyway, is top-notch with Nathan Drake, Desmond Miles, err... Nolan North providing the voice of Vashyron. Musically, the game is all orchestral with the exception of some dungeons using rock. I intend to by the soundtrack as the music really is that good. There are a few stumbling points with Resonance of Fate. For one, collision detection isn't great in some battlefields. For instance, if I plot a hero action over a mechanical enemy and I jump, I may have several feet of clearance between the top of the enemy and my character, but I will still end up hitting an invisible wall, in mid air and falling, stunned, in front of the enemy. I may even plot a hero action all the way to the other side of the battlefield and hit the wall on the other side, even though the path indicated I would not be going over the wall at all. Same thing with bunkers, you need quite a bit of clearance to get over them. If you miss and fall, your hero action is terminated and you're stunned, totally vulnerable. During battles, you and the enemy have audio sprites and sayings, but there were a limited number recorded so it is commonplace to hear the same line spoken over and over again in the same battle. Some of these lines from the enemies are very irritating, like the 1920's sounding gangster saying how dangerous he is or the gang member who says a line about how strong he is but in a valley boy accent (Think valley girl but from a guy) or the overly synthesized deep bass of a mechanical enemy saying he's going to kick my a**. While doing random encounters trying to get a certain number of green colored hexes, this became maddening and I muted the television. This is a multiplatform title developed mainly for the Xbox 360, as denoted by the 720p on the box, so much of the PS3's power isn't utilized though the game runs well. In terms of trophies, this game favors completion more than repetition with the trophies being easier than Final Fantasy XIII's. The vast majority of trophies are earned through simply playing the game or exploring every nook of Basel, but there are some that are repetitive. The trophy that comes to mind is the one where you have to gain stars in all 50 arena ranks. Each rank has ten battles, so you must fight 500 battles to earn that trophy, which is very labor intensive and moderately aggravating if you wait until just before the final boss to do it. Think about it, if you play the game through twice, which is necessary to earn a trophy, and most of the enemies in the arena are much weaker than you, the process can become tedious, fast. If you are going for platinum, go up to level 25 in the arena during your first play though doing one or two ranks per chapter, then finish it off during your next playthrough. Overall, this was a great game, but it is not a Final Fantasy killer with story, nor is it a Grandia with a battle system. This game took about 60 hours to complete the first time and I project about the same for the second playthrough as the arena and the high-level map of Neverland will take a while to get through. Resonance of Fate is an excellent choice for patient gamers who thrive on stats and strategy over fast reflex action.Get more detail about Resonance of Fate.
