The previous reviews cover quite alot, thanks. Spares me the time to write a full review yet as I've just got the game today.
Nier is a multi-hybred RPG fighter action game. From the opening film, it had me rolling with its statements to which I cannot reprint. The statements made are so funny, I had to literally laugh in my chair. It's a testiment to past genre games and makes fun of them at the same time. This is what I had understood the creaters of Nier had in mind. It IS funny as heck. But don't let that fool you, this is a really good game. Yes it has elements of past games oh so revered, but all the while lets the player endulge in them and get in on the jokes. Not just in what you hear, read and play but the overall aspect is absolutly funny.
Starting off in the year 2049, you (after intro, battles and such) introduction has thrust you 1,1XX years ahead [I forgot the exact #]. Totally funny and oh so over the top rediculously hilarious. But look at so many games, they are and can get that dorky. Nier just plays and preys upon that to an extreme.
That all aside makes this so much fun and quirkily breaks and slaps at games of yore and today. You'll level to like 25 or 30 in a few battles..funny! Don't be fooled or put off by this though. Nier is a solid FUN game, bows it's head to games we all love. Good (and often silly) storyline, solid gameplay+controls, nice graphics and sound/music. Nier is a great game for sure.
