Being a large fan of rock band I purchased this game in a combo pack with RB1 and Beatles Rock Band. I enjoyed the first rock band game so I decided to pick them all up for a reasonable price. The game itself is the same, you hit the colors as they come at you. The new list of songs is right up my alley with bands like Rise Against, Paramore, Billy Idol, Journey, and more.
The Dev tried to add a few new twists into the game that play rather nicely such as double or nothing challenges that apply to both money and fans. The challenges seem to be chosen at random and offer some kind of bonus i.e. no money but twice the fans(and vice versa), Hot Topic Sponsorship, impress the MTV scouts, etc... A lot of the clothing looks familiar from the first game but there are a few new pieces thrown in to help it look fresh. So if you played the first one and had a look you liked it's probably there. The hair and ink section seems to have been given more love this time around. Lots more hair choices and a different set of tattoos never hurts.
Difficulty for this game is hard to judge since it's by song but I feel that it right around where the first one is but more difficult than the Beatles game. The difficulty breakdown is now visible by instrument per song. So if you look at White Wedding it shows you 1-5 points of difficulty for each singer, guitar, bass, and drums.
Overall I am happy that I purchased this game, it has enough content that I don't mind playing but there are patches where I don't know the songs that makes it kinda boring in my opinion. A reasonable purchase if you want more Rock Band that seems fresh and isn't band specific.Get more detail about Rock Band 2.
